Deployed by Red Cross to LA

I received a call this afternoon from the Red Cross. I have been deployed to Los Angeles to assist in the Red Cross disaster operation in Los Angeles. I will be in the area for several days...up to 3 weeks. I fly out tomorrow.

On the NBC Nightly News tonight they said that over 800 homes have been destroyed by the fires currently burning in southern California. The air quality is very low.

My daughter, Carol, posted this picture on CBS5.com. She took it from her bedroom balcony yesterday.

Historic Building Burns in Brigham City

My husband has been volunteering for a local organization that makes 3 wheel vehicles for non-ambulatory people in 3rd world countries. They have been working out of a small section of an historic building in Brigham City. It appears that the fire was arson. The volunteers are not allowed in the building to get their tools or carts in progress since it is now considered a crime scene.

Here's the story:

Another block was posted today on the Dear Baby Jane site. Anina had a great tutorial on making the B-2 block. I was so excited and got it done. I would have made 4 templates and hand pieced the whole thing. Her way got me out of my box!

First Posting

Well, I'm going to try to jump in and create a blog. I've been inspired by many blogs.

I've been busy making Dear Jane blocks. I'm not sure when I'll stop but I'm having fun so far. The Utah Quilt Guild has put out a challenge to members to create a Baby Jane quilt for a special display in the 2009 quilt festival.

I am doing some blocks along with the Dear Baby Jane blog. Anina has provided some wonderful tutorials.
